Description: Excellent Power Point presentation covers basic Tobacco 101. PLUS the training provides a comprehensive overview of why and how to address tobacco dependence treatment for substance abuse and mental health clients. New staff, and/or those who need additional and up-dated information and skills should attend. The training meets staff training requirements under the Behavioral Health Care Services Provider Tobacco Policy Guidelines. Primary care providers who treat patients with substance abuse and mental health problems are also encouraged to attend. Dr. Iton is Alameda County’s official “Doctor” – Health Officer – who is responsible for keeping us all safe and healthy . . . and he is the Director of Public Health as well. This is the first time tobacco control advocates will have an exclusive opportunity to meet him and hear what his vision is for the future direction of public health in the county. His presentation is very inspiring and thought-provoking.
